PLAYING SECOND KEYS

This course trains Second Keyboardists to build pads, drones (sound), ambient layers and synth tones that provides a warm, spacious and spiritually sensitive atmosphere for the worship service. Participants get to learn about responding to room and enhancing moments without overdoing the soundscape. A course needed for spontaneous worship moments.

Course duration

3 weeks

This workshop is for

Keyboardists serving in church or ministry who are looking at improving their usual Sunday chord patterns and/or soundscape.

Prerequisites

  • Basic Keyboard Proficiency:
    • Ability to play basic triads in at least 4-5 common keys
    • Familiar and comfortable playing simple chord progressions with both hands
  • Basic Music & Worship Familiarity
    • Experience serving in church worship team (even occasionally)
    • Familiar with common worship songs and song flow
  • Willingness to learn taste and restraint
    • Openness to reshape playing style to serve the atmosphere of worship, not just playing melody and techniques

Course highlights

  • Do you feel that your keyboard playing style is stagnant and you need some new and creative styles?
  • Do you find it difficult to support a worship leader or a pastor especially during ministry time?
