EMBRACING INTERGENERATIONAL CONNECTIONS: NOT OPTIONAL NICETIES BUT ESSENTIAL FOUNDATION

In recent years, global efforts to bridge generations have gained momentum, reflecting a growing recognition of their necessity. Why do we need intergenerational connections, and why are they particularly vital in rapidly aging societies?

This talk examines how initiatives and spaces that foster intergenerational engagements enrich the lives of older adults and younger generations, and strengthen community bonds.

Drawing on examples from Singapore and international contexts, it highlights innovative practices, impacts and lessons learned. This presentation argues for an intergenerational lens in community building because intergenerational connections are not optional niceties but essential foundations for building inclusive, sustainable and compassionate communities.
