VOCALS 101

Do you desire to sing your best for worship? Designed for church worship team vocalists, this course will unlock your vocal potential, reduce strain and help you sing with confidence.

This workshop is for

  • Worship leaders and vocalists who serve in contemporary worship services
  • Those who are interested in singing contemporary Christian worship music

Prerequisites

  • An open and teachable heart
  • Confidence to sing solo in front of a group
  • Willing to practice on your own in between sessions
  • Prepare a contemporary Christian worship song to sing at the 1st session (a moderately challenging one, can be sung acapella or to a backing track)

Course highlights

  • Do you find it difficult to sing high notes?
  • Have you been told to “project your voice” but don’t know how? 
  • Are you trying to reduce strain and/or tiredness in your voice? 
  • Do you want to consistently perform at your vocal best and protect your voice from damage? 

If so, this course is for you and we will address individual growth areas as best as time permits.

About the instructor

Jocelyn Ong is a seasoned vocal coach with over 10 years of professional performance experience. She has taught hundreds of students of all ages. As a worship leader and trainer at Grace Methodist Church, Jocelyn is equipped to guide vocalists in bringing their full potential to worship.

Date: Class 2 – July 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2026 (Wednesdays)
           Class 3 – September 2, 9, 16 and 23, 2026 (Wednesdays) 

Time: 7.30pm-9 pm

Venue: Methodist School of Music (Level 3)

Cost: S$260 (inclusive of 9% GST)

About the organiser:
The Methodist School of Music is a member of the Methodist Schools network. MSM was founded in 1997 as an agency of the Methodist Church in Singapore and is registered with the Ministry of Education.

Its three-fold thrust is to:

  • Nurture individuals regardless of race or religion, towards musical excellence;
  • Contribute towards the development of music in Singapore and the region;
  • Equip Christians for the needs of the music ministry.
