Day 2: All in to Proclaim Jesus

40D 2025 Day 2

Bible reading for 40.Day 2025 | Romans 10:14-17

The Bible tells us that Old Testament prophets proclaimed God’s word to the people, but in the New Testament, Jesus Himself went around through villages and cities, teaching, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom. He also did healings of disease. (Matthew 9:35)

When Jesus said at the same time, in John 14:12: What I’m doing, you’re going to do the works that I do. You should also follow and do.

Imitate Christ, share the Gospel

If you look at Saul, he was once a persecutor. Immediately after he encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus, he began to proclaim Jesus. (Acts 9:20)

Now, when you put all this together, all of this should make it very clear to us that once we have accepted Christ, our immediate role is to proclaim the Word of God. Not just in the church, but everywhere we go, proclaiming beyond the church walls.

Scripture clearly tells us that faith comes by hearing the Word of God.

In Romans, they asked the question,

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:14-15)

That “preacher” is not just talking about someone at the pulpit. Scripture clearly tells us someone must be speaking – “how will they hear without a preacher?” This tells us not everyone is going to be coming into the church to hear.

That means proclamation is not just for pastors and church leaders – it is something every believer should be doing.

Come on. We must speak. We must declare. We must proclaim God’s love, His mercy, His justice, forgiveness, deliverance and restoration.

Beyond church walls

God brings hope to the hopeless and freedom to those in bondage. No matter how many activities we engage in, if we lose focus on proclaiming the good news, we have missed our bottom line assignment for God because “faith comes by hearing”. (Romans 10:17)

It is through preaching and proclaiming the Gospel that God draws nations to himself, transforms lives and initiates the renewal of all things. Therefore, we must all faithfully verbally proclaim His message to others. That is why this assignment from God is not something you can delegate to pastors or anyone else.

Proclamation is not just for pastors and church leaders – it is something every believer should be doing.

God has called all of us to become salt and light in our schools, our workplace, our community, our nation and beyond. Just imagine what could happen if all of us committed to actively proclaiming to one person. Think of the impact that would have on this nation and beyond. It could be a relative. It could be a neighbour. It could be a stranger.

Think with me about these numbers: If we had one million Christians and all of us proclaimed to just one person, and out of that, only one half received Christ – that’s half a million souls saved.

Then out of that, if only one half of those actually became committed to a local church, that alone would still result in an increase of 250,000 souls entering into the kingdom of God in one day.

You say, “Impossible.” No, no, no. On the day of Pentecost, Peter – one man – preached. He proclaimed Christ, and 5,000 repented and came into the kingdom of God.

You can say, “Well, Pastor, that’s just numbers”. Yes, but these numbers could become a reality if you speak, if you proclaim to every generation. No one is missed because everyone is proclaiming.

Friends, if we will all proclaim, Jesus says, “I will be with you. I’ll be with you when you pray with a stranger. I’ll be with you when you share your testimony. I will be with you when you pray for your family members because when you speak, faith will rise in their hearts.”

Today, I want to invite you to make a declaration with me: “As one, we will all proclaim!”

Let’s pray together:

Heavenly Father, I thank You today that Your word is anointed, your word will not return void. I thank You. As we hear Your word, You will ignite a flame within our heart and that we will embrace what You are saying with a passion to proclaim all together as one in this nation and beyond. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflect:

1. When was the last time you proclaimed the Gospel? Who did you proclaim it to, and what happened?

2. What is keeping you from obeying Jesus’ command to proclaim the Gospel? Prayerfully reflect on what fears you have.

3. What will be your plan to begin proclaiming Jesus to at least one person during this 40.Days of Prayer?

Pray:

1. That we catch the urgency for souls to be added to the Kingdom, that we will be compelled by His love to proclaim the Gospel to those who don’t yet know Him.

2. That we will overcome the fear of rejection, and that the Lord will help us to proclaim His Good News with boldness and fearlessness.

3. That the Holy Spirit tenderises the hearts of relatives, friends and strangers to accept the Gospel and make Jesus the Lord of their lives.
